Amanda Bynes Charged With Misdemeanor DUI
BEVERLY HILLS (CBS) — Actress Amanda Bynes was charged Tuesday with a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in connection with an April 6 collision with a sheriff's patrol car in West Hollywood.
The 26-year-old actress is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday, but she is not required to appear in person in Beverly Hills Superior Court. A lawyer can enter a plea on her behalf.
A sheriff's patrol car was stopped while northbound on Robertson Boulevard, preparing to turn right onto Santa Monica Boulevard, when Bynes allegedly struck it as she tried to pass to the right.
Bynes was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol about 3 a.m. on April 6.
The actress, a native of Thousand Oaks, has starred in TV shows such as "What I Like About You and Nickelodeon's "The Amanda Show." She has also appeared in movies such as "What A Girl Wants" (2003) and "Easy A" (2010).
