Alleged 'McBandit' Bank Robber Nabbed In Illinois
GLENDORA (CBSLA.com) — A man suspected of robbing banks in Glendora and Upland has been arrested in Illinois, the FBI announced Wednesday.
Jeremy Evans, 30, of Carol Stream, Ill., has been identified as the alleged "McBandit" robber, who places the money he steals inside McDonald's bags.
Evans was arrested after a bank robbery that took place Tuesday morning at the Old Second National Bank in Elgin, Ill. He was charged Wednesday with one count of bank robbery, according to the FBI.
Evans is believed to have robbed a U.S. Bank branch inside a Vons supermarket in Upland on Nov. 1, 2012, and a Chase branch inside a Ralphs supermarket in Glendora on Nov. 26, 2012.
In both cases, the "McBandit" slipped tellers notes demanding cash and made off with an undisclosed amount of money.
"The first robbery, the first note, he referenced he had a bomb. The second robbery, he referenced he had a gun. But, in both notes, he said he would kill somebody there," FBI investigator Steve May said.
