Alhambra Water Main Break Prompts Road Closures
ALHAMBRA (CBSLA.com) — A water main break in Alhambra prompted road closures as crews attempted to cap the flooding Monday.
Police warned people to avoid the flooded area near Fremont Ave. and Mission Rd. where a water main broke shortly after 12p.m on a property under construction.
Authorities said sections of both roads could remain closed for three to four hours, with Fremont Ave. closed in both directions between Valley Blvd and Orange St. and Mission Rd. closed between Fremont Ave. and Lowell Ave.
A hazardous material crew was called to the scene after water reportedly mixed with a substance considered toxic by public safety officials.
Sky9's Derek Bell reports crews were trying to shore up earth and dams to keep the water from flooding off of the property.
Road closures were expected to remain in effect as late as 6p.m.
