Agua Dulce Man Formally Charged With Trying To Kidnap Toddler At Mobile-Home Park

SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA.com) —   An Agua Dulce man suspected of kidnapping a 2-year-old girl from her grandparents' residence was formally charged Wednesday.

The Los Angeles County DA's Office announced Thomas Ray Dillingham, 40, was scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon at the San Fernando Branch of the Los Angeles County Superior Court,

Prosecutors asked that his bail be set at $220,000.

The DA said that Dillingham burst into a mobile home on Monday night and took the toddler at knife-point from her grandparents, who were watching her. When her grandfather went to the suspect's residence in the same mobile home park and sought the child's return, the suspect allegedly refused.

Sheriff's deputies were able to recover the child and arrest Dillingham a short time later. He is charged with one count of kidnapping a victim under 14 with use of a knife allegation and one count of assault with a deadly weapon, a knife.

If convicted, Dillingham faces up to 30 years in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
