AFTRA Board Says Yes To Merger With SAG
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The National Board of Directors of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) voted Saturday to merge their more than 70,000 membership with that of the Screen Actors Guild.

The board met via video conference in New York and Los Angeles to vote on the merger package, which includes a merger agreement, a constitution and a dues structure and a proposed new name for the joint performer's union -- SAG-AFTRA, according to Leslie Simmons of AFTRA.
The AFTRA national board voted unanimously to recommend the terms for ratification. Ballots on the Network Television Code will be sent out Monday with a return date of Feb. 22, Simmons said in a statement.
The Network Television Code contract covers soaps, talk and magazine shows including programs "The Young and the Restless," "Good Morning America," "The View," "The Voice," "Saturday Night Live," "Nightline," "Dancing with the Stars," and "Late Night with David Letterman."
