Actress, Comedian Phyllis Diller Dies At 95
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A manager for Phyllis Diller confirms to CBS News that the actress and comedian died Monday morning at her Brentwood home.
Known for her self-deprecating humor, and unmistakable laugh, Diller built a singular career that spanned more than 50 years and inspired generations of funny ladies after her.
Diller, whose career began in 1952 with her show, "Phyllis Dillis, the Homely Friendmaker," was 95.
She was propelled to greater fame after co-starring with Bob Hope in 23 television specials and three films in the 1960s.
Her monologues often revolved around domestic life, especially a fictional alcoholic husband nicknamed "Fang."
In recent years, she had provided voice-overs for "A Bug's Life" and "Family Guy."
A cause of death has yet to be released.
