'CSI' Actor, Musician Brad Carter Discusses Recovery Following Brain Surgery
STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — Actor and musician Brad Carter discussed his recovery on KCAL9 on Saturday morning following Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS).
The accomplished artist, who's also appeared on "CSI: NY" and "The Mentalist", recently underwent brain surgery at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center after being diagnosed with a benign essential tremor, a neurologically progressive disorder.
During the 7-hour DBS procedure, Carter remained awake and played his guitar in an attempt to improve his hand tremors, which had hindered his ability to play his guitar.
Carter said he'll likely require a second procedure to allow doctors to place the electrode implants in more exact locations.
He also discussed a campaign, known as Kickstarter, in which he is attempting to raise $45,000 to record his first and only album. If Carter doesn't reach his fundraising goal within the next 11 days, he won't get any of the funds.
