85-Year-Old Central California Woman Fatally Struck By Driver In Santa Ana
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Officials said a driver struck two women -- one fatally -- in Santa Ana Saturday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as 85-year-old Margarita Hernandez of Madera, a central California town.
Santa Ana Police were informed by the Orange County Coroners Office that Hernandez was removed from life support and died Sunday.
Hernandez and another woman were struck in the location of Center Street and McFadden Avenue around 12:18 p.m. Saturday.
The other victim sustained abrasions and a laceration to her face.It was unclear if Hernandez and the other victim were together.
Witnesses said the victims stepped off the southeast corner and proceeded to walk north in the crosswalk across McFaddem. As the pedestrians crossed the street, a female motorist driving a silver Nissan Frontier drove south on Center St. and made a left turn striking the women.
Police said the driver remained on scene and cooperated throughout the investigation. Alcohol and/or drugs were not a factor, police said.
