6-Year-Old Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver In South LA
SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A $50,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of a the hit-and-run driver who killed a second grade girl in South Los Angeles.
Kimberly Arrue was struck in front of her home on 49th Place just before 10 p.m. Tuesday.
She had been playing with her sisters on the front lawn when she darted into the street to recover a ball that had rolled away, according to CBS2's Kristine Lazar.
A dark SUV struck her without slowing and sped away. Witnesses say the driver was going very fast and that the vehicle likely sustained damage.
If the driver had stopped, they probably would not have been cited, as the little girl was in the middle of the road. Because they fled, however, authorities have launched a felony hit-and-run investigation.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the LAPD.
