1 Woman Dead, 6 Others Injured In Crash Following Pursuit Of Carjacked Vehicle
PALMDALE (CBSLA) -- A female adult was killed and six other people were injured when a carjacking suspect crashed into a vehicle containing a family of five during a pursuit in Palmdale.
The pursuit came to an end at 10th Street West and Palmdale Boulevard.
CBS2's Crystal Cruz reported from the scene.
Witnesses said the woman being pursued in the stolen vehicle was exceeding 100 mph when she blew through the intersection.
Sheriff's Deputies said they were in pursuit of the female -- a teenager -- after she carjacked a driver at a nearby shopping center.
She reportedly hit a dark-colored vehicle containing a family of five and one of those "Baby on Board" stickers. Late Sunday, officials said the car contained a black family -- two adults (a male and female), two teenagers and an infant. The adult female succumbed to her injuries at a hospital, authorities said.
The four other people in the vehicle were also taken to the hospital. Their conditions were unknown but earlier in the evening officials had said three people were critical.
The female juvenile suspect was also transported to a hospital. Her condition is also not known as of 11 p.m. Sunday.
