6th-Grader's Puncture Wound Prompts LA High School's Lockdown
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Belmont High School near downtown Los Angeles was placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after a middle school student suffered a puncture wound in his back.
The sixth-grader was hurt around 2 p.m. in the gym at Sal Castro Middle School, which is located on the Belmont campus, according to Monica Carazo of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
The student was taken to the hospital for the non-serious injury.
Carazo said it's believed that four students were involved in the incident, which may have been "horseplay."
No weapon was located.
The investigation is ongoing.
