Man Sentenced To Life In Prison For Robbery-Murder Of 2 USC Grad Students
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A man convicted for the robbery-murder of two foreign USC graduate students was sentenced to two terms of life in prison without parole Monday.
Javier Bolden, 20, was found guilty in October of this year in the April 11, 2012, murders of 23-year-olds Ying Wu and Ming Qu of China.
The engineering students were fatally shot as they sat in a BMW that was double-parked on a street near the USC campus.
"It was real easy, man. Boom-boom, and it was over," Bolden told a jailhouse informant.
Qu's father said the judgment offered "no comfort or consolation" and was "humiliating to the people of China as well."
"Just as they were preparing to turn this ideal into a reality and its great prospects, they were cruelly murdered by two extremely evil specimens, pieces of human trash with nothing better to do than murder and cause trouble to our children," he added as Bolden smirked, according to CBS2/KCAL9's Dave Lopez.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephen A. Marcus said Bolden showed a lack of remorse and said it was "truly one of the saddest cases that I've had to preside over."
Bryan Barnes, who was also charged in the killings, was sentenced in February to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
