$600K Mega Millions Ticket Sold In Duarte
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Two tickets in California worth $604,409 each were sold in Friday's Mega Millions draw.
The two tickets -- one sold in Alameda, near Oakland, and the other purchased in Duarte -- each had the winning numbers 11, 29, 36, 58 and 67. Both tickets failed to match the Mega number 15.
The ticket sold closer to home was purchased at Duarte Liquors (1302 East Duarte Road.) Had the ticket holder in Duarte also had 15 as his/her Mega number they would have won the $284 million up for grabs.
Since no ticket matched all six numbers, Tuesday's jackpot soars to an estimated $321 million.
The Mega Millions game is played in 42 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Mega Millions jackpot starts at $12 million and climbs every time there is no winner. The record jackpot went to $656 million in March 2012.
