6 People Held In Connection With 29-Year-Old Man's Stabbing Death In Riverside
RIVERSIDE (CBS) — Six people were arrested Saturday in connection with the stabbing and beating death of a 29-year-old Riverside man, according to the police department.
Officers arrived today at about 1 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 8700 block of Magnolia Avenue and saw a woman attacking a man who was lying on the floor of the apartment, Riverside police Sgt. David Amador said.
Officers got the woman away from the victim and summoned medical aid.
The man, whose name was not released pending notification of his next of kin, was taken to a hospital and died of his injuries hours later, Amador said.
Investigators learned that there was a gathering at the apartment the previous evening, and shortly before 1 a.m., five people assaulted the victim in his bedroom, the sergeant said.
"He was punched and kicked numerous times, and during this assault he was also stabbed by one of the suspects," Amador said. "This investigation led to the arrest of six people, including two juveniles."
Arrested on suspicion of murder were Riverside residents Peter Zamora, 21; Desiree Huerta, 42; Samuel Zamora, 18; a 17-year-old male juvenile, and a 16-year-old male juvenile. Arrested on suspicion of aiding a felony was Stephanie Vargas, 26, of Riverside, Amador said.
The juveniles were not named because of their ages.
The adults were to be booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside and the juveniles into the Riverside Juvenile Hall, he said.
