6 Mariners Combine To Throw No-Hitter Against Dodgers`
SEATTLE (CBS) --Kevin Millwood, Charlie Furbush, Stephen Pryor, Lucas Leutge, Brandon League, and Tom Wilhelmsen combined to no-hit the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night at Safeco Field as the Seattle Mariners beat the Dodgers 1-0.
The Mariners were forced to turn to their bullpen after Millwood strained his groin warming up heading into the seventh inning. He threw just 68 pitches.
It is the first combined no-hitter since 2003, when the Houston Astros used six pitchers to no-hit the New York Yankees.
Prior to Friday night, the Mariners had two no-hitters in franchise history, Randy Johnson in 1990 and Chris Bosio in 1993.
The last time the Dodgers were no-hit was in 2008, they beat the Angels, but it is not recorded as an official no-hitter because the Dodgers did not bat nine times.
The last time they were officially no-hit was in 1994 by Atlanta's Kent Mercker.
Seattle got the only run of the game on Kyle Seager's single in the 7th inning off Scott Elbert.
