Building Once Home To Friars Club Being Torn Down
BEVERLY HILLS (AP) — A building that once housed the legendary Friars Club is being torn down.
Demolition of the building in Beverly Hills began earlier this week and is expected to conclude in the coming days. The building was home to the West Coast branch of the private entertainers club until 2007 when the New York Friars won a lawsuit that forced its cross-country brethren to change its name.
The club was closed soon after the name change to Club 9900.
The Los Angeles Times reported the owner had no immediate plans to rebuild at the demolition site.
