$50K Reward Offered In Stabbing Death Of San Pedro Woman
SAN PEDRO (CBS) — A $50,000 reward was offered Wednesday for information leading to an arrest in the stabbing death of a woman in San Pedro.
Eva Alta Tice, 60, was found lying on a sidewalk on Dec. 24, 2011, in the 1100 block of South Pacific Avenue, with multiple stab wounds to her upper body, according to Los Angeles police Officer Gregory Baek.
She later died at a local hospital, police said.
Tice was walking home from a church service when she was killed, said LAPD Detective David Alvarez of the Harbor Station. A motive for the crime has not been established, he added.
"She volunteered at the church, and she was loved in the community," he said.
Police had a sketchy description of a possible suspect seen running from the area. He was described only as a white or Hispanic man with a shaved head, dressed in black and carrying a backpack.
The reward was offered by the Los Angeles City Council for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death.
Anyone knowing more about the crime was urged to call police at (877) LAPD-24-7.
