$50K Reward Offered In Murder Investigation Of South LA Woman

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — After exhausting all leads in a 2011 murder case, police announced a $50,000 reward Thursday for information leading to the arrest of a suspect who gunned down a woman in South Los Angeles.

Jewell King, 54, was killed just before 10 p.m. on Feb. 19, 2011 while walking in the area of 116th and Main streets, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

King was shot once in the upper body before the suspect fled the scene.

Officials say King staggered on the sidewalk and called for help.

"A nearby citizen heard King's cries for help and phoned 911," police said in a statement.

The motive for the murder is unknown.

Anyone with information should call the LAPD Criminal Gang/Homicide Division Detective Kerri Potter at (213) 485-4341.
