5 Injured, 1 Seriously In Gardena Apartment Fire
GARDENA (CBS/AP) — A fire official says an apartment fire in Gardena has injured five people, one critically.
Among the injured were a 6-year-old boy and a 6-month-old baby, according to CBS2's Kirk Hawkins.
Los Angeles County fire dispatch supervisor Andre Gougis says firefighters were called to a burning apartment in the Los Angeles suburb shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday and doused the flames in about 20 minutes.
Five people were taken to a local hospital. One was in critical condition but there's no immediate word on the others.
No firefighters were hurt.
Gougis says he can't confirm reports that unattended cooking may have sparked the blaze.
