5 Hospitalized After Crashing Into Concrete Median On 110 Freeway
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Five people in a car that crashed into the concrete median on the Harbor (110) Freeway in South Los Angeles were taken to hospitals in critical condition Sunday.
The accident occurred in northbound lanes, just south the junction with the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway, about 3:30 a.m., according to a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman.
Two other people from the car, which may have overturned, were taken to hospitals with lesser injuries.
"Five of the injured were readily removed by firefighters from the mangled sedan, though two remained badly trapped, requiring rescuers to skillfully disentangle them from the wreckage with hydraulic prying tools," Brian Humphrey of the fire department said.
California Highway Patrol officers are in charge of the investigation.
