48 Hours Investigates Hollywood Double Murder Mystery

NEW YORK (CBS) — It's an unsolved murder mystery wrapped up in stolen jewels, sex and the Playboy Mansion -- a story not even Hollywood could dream up.

Over Labor Day weekend in 2002, Los Angeles Police found an SUV on fire in a Hollywood neighborhood. Inside they discovered two men in their 30s, who had been executed. The victims were Michael Tardio, 35, and his friend, 31-year-old Christopher Monson.

Authorities thought the murders were gang or drug related, but later discovered a murder-mystery trail that lead them to a former girlfriend of Hugh Hefner, Wall Street and an international prostitution ring.

The Los Angeles City Council just announced a $75,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the double-murder.

Peter Van Sant reports in "48 Hours Mystery: Playing With Fire," airing Saturday, February 19 at 10 p.m. on CBS.
