4 Walk Away With Minor Injuries From Small Plane Crash In Wrightwood Area

LLANO (CBSLA.com) — Authorities continue to investigate the crash of a Cessna with four people aboard that crashed northwest of Wrightwood shortly after takeoff.

The plane came down the near the Brian Ranch Airport, 34810 Largo Vista Road in Llano at about 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to sheriff's Lt. K. Wright.

The Cessna had four people on board when it went down, and they were treated for minor injuries by L.A. County paramedics, Wright said.

Interviews with the pilot and three passengers indicated the Cessna was taking off from the runway, reached between 40 and 50 knots in speed, and was only 25 to 30 feet up when the plane suddenly stalled, flipped backward and crashed into an orchard.

FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said the plane hit a tree, crashed and burned. Wright said the people inside the plane were able to exit through the doors and windows before the plane caught fire.

"It does not appear that any of the four people on board were seriously injured," Gregor said.
