4 Teens Suspected Of Vandalizing Jurupa Valley Mormon Church
JURUPA VALLEY (CBS) — Four teenagers have been arrested in connection with the vandalism of a Mormon church in Jurupa Valley.
Diego Desantiago and Enrique Gomez, both 18 from Jurupa Valley, along with two juveniles, were arrested on suspicion of vandalizing the interior of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints last Thursday morning about 6:30 a.m.
The suspects were allegedly in the process of vandalizing the interior of the church when they were confronted, Riverside County Sheriff's officials said.
Deputies were initially given a generic description of a truck seen driving near the church at the time of the crime.
As the investigation continued, a neighbor came forward with video, captured by his home security system, of the same truck quickly leaving the area near the church. More church and community members came forward with information for the investigation, officials said.
Deputies were able to identify the four suspects and recover all stolen property within 48 hours.
Desantiago and Gomez were booked on hate crime, burglary, vandalism and conspiracy charges. Desantiago remains in jail on $50,000 bail, while Gomez was released Monday after posting bail. The juvenile suspects were released to the custody of their parents.
