#4 Long Beach Poly... A Passing Team??
(CBS) -- Rahshaun Haylock -- Don't look now but Poly has a passing game.
In the 42-28 win over Bakersfield, (4) Long Beach Poly head coach Raul Lara unveiled his new "gunslinger."

Junior QB Chaiyse Hales completed 15 of 24 passes, for 312 yards, 5 TD, and 0 INT. The 312 yards is the most for a Poly QB since Theo Scott threw for 287 yards in 2004 against Eisenhower. Coincidentally, the 2010 version of the Jackrabbits reminds Lara the most of that '04 squad, which gave Lara the second of his four CIF Southern Section titles as head coach.
In recent years, Poly has been about two things: running and defense. You can make the argument the passing game have never been a necessity for Lara to win.
This season Lara thinks his team can compete for a national title. If so, the Jackrabbits may be riding the arm of Hales to get there. This week, Poly hosts St. Bonaventure at The Vet. It will be the season opener for the Seraphs.
