30-Acre Brush Fire Threatened Homes Near Agua Dulce
SANTA CLARITA (AP) — Authorities say a 30-acre wildfire in northern Los Angeles County briefly threatened homes and forced the shutdown of freeway lanes before firefighters stopped its progress.
County fire spokesman Mark Savage says the Saturday blaze northeast of Santa Clarita is 75 percent contained, homes in the area are out of danger and the California Highway Patrol is reopening closed lanes of the Antelope Valley Freeway.
Firefighters aided by water-dropping helicopters had to deal with hot, dry conditions but winds in the area are light.
Savage says firefighters will be mopping up for most of the night.
There have been no injuries and no structures damaged, and the cause is under investigation.
