3 West Nile Cases Reported In San Bernardino County
SAN BERNARDINO (AP) — Health officials say there are three new West Nile virus cases in San Bernardino County.
The Los Angeles Times says a 71-year-old Colton man, a 57-year-old Fontana man and a 65-year-old Redlands man recently tested positive for the virus, bringing the county total to four this year.
Nearly 70 human West Nile cases have been reported in California this year. There has been one death.
West Nile virus is commonly transmitted by mosquitoes that feed on infected birds. Most people who are infected have no symptoms but some have flulike symptoms or a rash. However, West Nile can be deadly in rare cases.
