3 Rescued After Rain Submerges Campsite Along LA River
CYPRESS PARK (CBSLA.com) — Three homeless people were uninjured Thursday after their campsite along the Los Angeles River near Cypress park was almost submerged in water.
KNX 1070's Pete Demetriou reports crews moved quickly after a light morning shower turned into heavy rain.

Two males and one female - all approximately 40 years of age - were on an island in the river when their campsite was overrun by 4-feet-deep water moving as fast as 30 miles per hour, according to L.A. City Fire Battalion Chief Mark Akahoshi.
After someone in a nearby business called 911, the trio took action to save their own lives, exiting the L.A. River near Glover Place, Akahoshi said.
"Three victims were able to walk out and then needed assistance from Engine 12 to be rescued out of the river," he said.
Paramedics examined the victims, but no injuries were reported.
Firefighters said the incident highlights the potential dangers posed by the L.A. River during a rain storm.
