3 Sought In Brazen Long Beach Home Invasion
LONG BEACH (CBS) — Police searched Wednesday for a group of home-invasion robbers, who targeted an elderly couple in Long Beach in the middle of night.
"Mom and dad are doing fine. They are out of the hospital, they're recovering. My dad has got some good bumps and bruises, but he's doing good," said the victim's son, Eric.
He said his parents were asleep in their Long Beach home on Daisy Avenue when at least three men broke through their front door just after 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.
It was a brazen home invasion where the couple, both in their 60s, were roughed up by the robbers.
"Something like this, I don't know who you could ever try to even imagine somebody coming in while you're sleeping in the middle of the night," Eric said.
Police said there had been two burglary attempts in the neighborhood over the past month or two.
"We've had two intrusions at our house," said a neighbor, who has added additional security measures over the years.
"Just knowing that someone is at home and you're robbing a place, that tells me that there's careless disregard for human life. That's a serious crime, that's a serious issue," he said.
Most residents in the block have upgraded their security and Eric said that was exactly what he planned to do for his parents' house.
"We can just try to make them feel better, as far as that goes. But it's kind of hard to say that you're fully secure. So we'll do what we can," he said.
Long Beach police asked that anyone with information to contact them.
