3 Rape Suspects Still At Large In Bassett
BASSETT (CBSLA.com) — A composite drawing was released Wednesday of one of three men suspected in the kidnapping and rape of a 15-year-old girl in Bassett.
The suspects were in a car that stopped in the 600 block of Van Wig Avenue, in front of where the girl was walking, about 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sheriff's spokeswoman Deputy Amber Smith said.
Two men got out of the car and one of them blindfolded the girl, who was forced into the car. Another man stayed in the driver's seat.
"The victim told detectives she was sexually assaulted, then released," Smith said, adding that the suspects drove south on Van Wig Avenue and out of sight after letting the girl go free.
She was dropped off in the same area where she was abducted and was warned not to report what happened.
The suspects who got out of the vehicle were described as Latino men between 20 and 27 years of age, both between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall. A composite drawing was released of one of the suspects.
The car was described as a late 1990s model Honda with a possible license plate number beginning with "2WE."
