3 men arrested in deadly stabbing outside Santa Monica bar
Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a deadly stabbing outside a popular Santa Monica bar over the weekend, police said Thursday.
Oscar Alfredo Gonzalez, 31, of Santa Maria was suffering from stab wounds and critically injured when first responders arrived to the scene in the 100 block of Wilshire Boulevard just before 2 a.m. Saturday, according to the Santa Monica Police Department. He and another man wounded in the stabbing were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Gonzalez was later pronounced dead.
Rogelio Arenas, a 32-year-old resident of of Los Angeles, and two brothers who live in South Gate — Alfredo Quinteros, 41, and Ricardo Quintero, 42 — have been identified by police as the three suspects. Police said Alfredo Quinteros was arrested on suspicion of homicide and is being held without bail while his brother, Ricardo Quinteros, was arrested on suspicion of accessory and is also being held with out bail. Arenas was arrested on suspicion of homicide and is being held without bail.
The Santa Monica Police Department issued a statement Thursday saying a "comprehensive investigation" led to the arrests, with two of the men taken into custody Monday while the other was arrested Wednesday.
Over the weekend, the stabbing was first reported at The Bungalow, a bar attached to the oceanfront Fairmont Miramar Hotel. But police later said a preliminary investigation suggests the stabbing was outside the hotel, saying in a statement that detectives believe it "was an isolated incident and not a random act of violence."
No details about a possible motive or any other information has been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
