3 Charged In El Monte Jewelry Heist, High-Speed Pursuit
EL MONTE (CBS) — Charges were filed today against three men accused of
robbing an El Monte jewelry store and leading police on a high-speed pursuit last week.
Devon Gholston, 21; Albert Turner, 18, and Rodnell Moorer, 19, who are each charged with four counts of second-degree robbery and one count of evading an officer, pleaded not guilty to the charges, according to the District Attorney's Office.
The criminal complaint alleges that the crime was committed for the benefit of a criminal street gang and that Gholston used a semiautomatic handgun.
A fourth man involved in the robbery is being sought.
The four suspects were wearing ski masks and were armed with handguns during the heist about 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Don Roberto Jewelers, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported.
Gholston, Turner and Moorer were arrested after a high-speed chase that ended at the Westfield West Covina shopping mall.
