3 Arrested In Connection With Recent Crimes Targeting Huntington Park School
HUNTINGTON PARK (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say they've arrested three men in connection with various crimes targeting a Huntington Park high school.
Two of the arrests were made on Saturday morning after authorities responded to a "burglary in progress" call at Linda Marquez High School.
"A quick-thinking witness alerted police to the break-in at about 2:50 a.m." authorities said in a department statement. "The witness reported seeing suspects breaking a window of the new high school."
The suspects – identified by police as two Hispanic males, ages 20 and 15 – were detained while allegedly fleeing the scene.
Both suspects, who are originally from Huntington Park, were booked on burglary charges.
Authorities also reported the arrest of a third suspect, identified as a 19-year-old Hispanic male from Huntington Park.
That suspect was arrested in connection with an Oct. 25, vandalism incident at the school that resulted in $1,500 in damage to school property.
"This vandalism included graffiti by a local street gang," the statement indicated.
Investigators said the same suspect was also booked at the Huntington Park Police jail facility in connection with a separate local robbery.
