1 Dead, 3 Hurt After Explosion Rips Through Meat Market Near Downtown LA

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — One of the victims in an explosion near Downtown L.A. has died.

Another person was critically injured in the blast and two other people received lesser injuries.

The explosion was reported at 6:28 p.m. at Bembis Meat Market, located at 2528 S. Grand Avenue, Matt Spence of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Firefighters said they had an idea of what caused the explosion but did not release that information.

An investigation of the explosion will be carried out by the Los Angeles Fire Department arson unit, the Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles County hazardous materials units.
