Hathaway Fire In Riverside County Grows To 1,500 Acres
BANNING (CBSLA.com) — A fire that broke out Sunday in the Morongo Reservation area of Riverside County has scorched about 1,500 acres, according to fire officials.
The Riverside County Fire Department in cooperation with CAL FIRE reported via the Internet that the fire was burning at Potrero and Burro Flats roads east of Banning.
The "Hathaway" Fire, which broke out about 11:53 a.m., was reportedly burning on federal land, CAL FIRE reported.
Approximately 261 firefighters have been assigned to the brush fire.
Officials report that no structures were currently threatened and no evacuations have been ordered.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
