2 Water Main Breaks Damage Cars, Home In San Fernando Valley
GRANADA HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Two water mains ruptured Monday, damaging cars, streets and one home in the San Fernando Valley.
The first break happened around 12:10 a.m. on Bermuda Street at Chimneas Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
The four-inch main broke through the pavement so forcefully it made a seven-foot hole in the ground and smashed through the windshields of several cars, one of which was flooded, according to officials.
The water continued to the front door of a nearby home, rushing into the living room and a bathroom before it was shut off by DWP workers around 12:45 a.m.
The second break was a six-inch main on Fullbright Place and Delco Avenue in Porter Ranch.
It broke around 1 a.m., causing some street damage, officials said.
