2 Ventura County Suspects Arrested In Las Vegas Casino Bomb Threats
VENTURA (CBS) — A Ventura County man and a juvenile suspect have been arrested after allegedly making a series of bomb threats to several Las Vegas casinos.
Zachary Jackson, 18, and an unnamed juvenile male were arrest on charges of making false bomb threats and attempted extortion.
Las Vegas Metropolitan police say from July 28 to August 8, several casinos received bomb threats over the phone by a caller who disguised his voice. The caller demanded large amounts of money and said he would detonate a bomb and destroy the properties if the victims did not meet his demands, officials said.
Detectives were able to trace the calls to Jackson and the juvenile suspect who were living in Ventura County.
Metro police contacted the Ventura County Sheriff's Office and began a joint investigation. A search warrant was served Wednesday where police were able to recover evidence and the phone reportedly used to make the threats.
Jackson and the juvenile suspect were arrested Thursday by Ventura County deputies. Jackson is being held on $50,000 bail at the Ventura County jail. He is expected to make his first court appearance Friday.
