2 Vehicles, Garage Vandalized In Santa Clarita Hate Crime
SANTA CLARITA (CBS) — Two vehicles were vandalized and a racial slur was spray-painted on a garage door in Santa Clarita, the sheriff's department reported Tuesday.
The crime occurred about 1 a.m. Saturday in the 20700 block of Satinwood Drive, Sgt. Darren Harris of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station said.
"When the victim looked outside, he saw his 2009 Scion fully engulfed in flames in his driveway," Harris said. "As firefighters extinguished his vehicle, he noticed four tires on his 2005 GMC Yukon had been slashed, and a religiously derogatory symbol had been painted onto the hood. "
"The victim also saw a racial epithet spray painted on his garage door," Harris said. "The victim, who is African American, lives at the location with several roommates."
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call sheriff's Arson Explosives Detective Larry Lewis, (323) 881-7500; or Crime Stoppers, (800)222-TIPS.
