2-Time World Champion Gymnast Simone Biles Signs With UCLA
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Two-time world gymnastics all-around champion Simone Biles has signed a national letter of intent to attend UCLA, although she has deferred enrollment until after the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
The 17-year-old from Spring, Texas, became the first woman in 40 years to win four gold medals at a single world meet earlier this year, when she won the team, all-around, balance beam and floor exercise titles. She added silver on vault.
Last year, Biles won world titles in all-around and floor exercise and had silver on vault and bronze on balance team.
Also signing with the Bruins are world team member Madison Kocian of Dallas and Macy Toronjo of Huntsville, Texas.
Kocian also plans to put off college until after the 2016 Games, while Toronjo will be a freshman in the fall.
