2 Teens Arrested After 2 Bodies Are Found In Shallow Graves
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Two teenagers -- a 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old female -- have been arrested as the suspects in the murders of two people found buried in shallow graves, one in Long Beach, the other Norwalk.
A couple was reported missing from their home located in the 1611 block of South Atlantic Avenue in Compton on Wednesday.
Concerned relatives of the couple, who have not been named, told authorities on Wednesday the teen's might have knowledge of the couple's disappearance.
The female victim, believed to be an immigrant from Honduras, was found on October 15 in the city of Norwalk. The male victim was recovered today, in a vacant lot, in Long Beach about a block from his home.
Detectives said the girl was related to the couple but the exact relationship was not officially disclosed.
However, Serene Branson, reporting for KCAL9 and CBS2, said sources told her the 15-year-old girl and her 16-year-old boyfriend are believed to have killed the girl's mother and her step-father.
The causes of death were not revealed.
Detectives did not reveal a motive. Friends told Serene Branson that the girl told them the 15-year-old step-father sexually abused her and hit her.
Both teens are being held without bail at a juvenile hall.
Anyone with information about the murders is asked to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau, 323-890-5500.
