2 Suspects Arrested In OC Serial Murder Case
ORANGE COUNTY (CBSLA.com) — Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the deaths of four women in Orange County.
Franc Cano, 27, and Steven Dean Gordon, 45, both of Anaheim, are being held for the suspected murders of all four women, according to Anaheim and Santa Ana police departments.
Anaheim police Lt. Bob Dunn said Cano was arrested shortly after 6 p.m. Friday in the 5100 block of E. La Palma Avenue. Gordon was arrested shortly after 7 p.m. in the 3100 block of E. La Palma Avenue.
Dunn said the investigation began on March 14 after Anaheim police were called to Republic Waste Services in the 1100 block of N. Blue Gum Street to investigate the discovery of a deceased female located by employees.
Homicide detectives found evidence at the scene indicating the victim, later identified as 21-year-old Oklahoma resident Jarrae Nykkole Estepp, had likely been murdered.
A joint investigation was initiated after Santa Ana homicide detectives contacted Anaheim authorities about three missing women in the city: Santa Ana residents Josephine Vargas, 34, and Martha Anaya, 28, last seen on October 24 and November 12, 2013, respectively, and 20-year-old Kianna Jackson, of Las Vegas, last seen in Santa Ana on October 6, 2013.
Further information is expected to be released at a press conference on Monday.
Anyone with information about these cases, or anyone who believes these suspects may have been in contact with other missing persons, is asked to contact Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS or www.occrimestoppers.org or text OCCS and your tip to CRIMES (274637).
