2 Smaller Target Stores Slated To Open In USC Area, Koreatown By 2018

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Target has announced plans to attract more customers by opening smaller stores.

According to the retailer, two new locations will be built in the Los Angeles area.

A 25,000-square-foot store is slated to open in July 2017 in the USC area. The location will focus on dorm and apartment living while featuring a fan central area with USC merchandise, sporting goods and easy grab-and-go meals for students.

Customers will also be able to take advantage of mobile pickup for items they may not want to have left outside a dorm room or residence.

Residents in Koreatown can expect to see a 22,000-square-foot store built by early 2018. Shoppers will be able to purchase fresh groceries, pick up perscriptions and browse through adult and children's clothing sections.

At this time, the majority of new stores are being planned for urban neighborhoods as an increasing number of customers don't have time to go far to shop for essential items.

"There isn't a lot around downtown so to be able to pick up a few items like toiletries on a run definitely works for me," said customer Zan Gabs.

The downtown Los Angeles City Target was part of the initial wave of urban stores, which offers items such as small packages of toilet paper that are suitable to walk with, according to Target.
