2 Sent To Hospital After Hazmat Incident In La Habra

LA HABRA (CBSLA.com) — A Hazmat incident prompted the evacuation of a building and forced street closures in La Habra Friday morning.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department received a call about an unusual odor near S. Euclid Street and E. Electric Avenue at 9:23 a.m., authorities said.

Public works employees working on manholes in the area reported smelling an odor before they began suffering from shortness of breath.

At least two workers were taken to a nearby hospital and a triage center was established near the scene, fire officials said.

No evacuations were ordered, but residents were asked to stay inside while officials conducted an investigation.
