Man Dies When Boat Overturns Near Santa Monica
SANTA MONICA (AP) — Authorities say a man died and another was injured when their boat struck a breakwater and turned over near the Santa Monica Pier.
Santa Monica Police Sgt. Thomas Burgess said Sunday both men were thrown into the water and attempted to swim ashore Saturday night.
Harbor patrol officers responded and retrieved the men but were unable to resuscitate 52-year-old Lewis Anderson of Anaheim. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The Los Angeles Times reports the other man, also in his 50s, was treated for hypothermia. His name was not released.
