2 Pomona Men In Custody After Leading Police On Vehicle, Foot Pursuit
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Two men were in custody Sunday after leading police officers on a dangers pursuit through the city of Pomona yesterday.
According to the Pomona Police Department, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a criminal street gang member around 1:04 p.m. Saturday in the area of Laurel Avenue and Weber Street.
Officers said Angel Navarro, 19, of Pomona was wanted for a firearm related charge.
Navarro, who was sitting in the passenger seat of a 2007 Dodge Caliber, fled the vehicle and led officers on a brief foot pursuit before being taken into custody.
The driver, Geovanny Medina, 22, of Pomona, proceeded to lead officers on a dangerous vehicle pursuit once Navarro exited the vehicle.
The vehicle pursuit ended when Medina collided the Caliber with a parked vehicle. He proceeded to lead officers on a brief foot pursuit before he was taken into custody.
According to police, the investigation revealed that the suspect vehicle had been reported stolen out of the city of Chino.
Authorities said Navarro and Medina are both self-admitted gang members of a group known to actively participate in shootings and other violent crimes in Pomona.
They were both arrested for evading a peace officer with disregard for safety, officials said.
