2 Workers Rescued After Being Trapped In Underground Tank Near San Pedro
SAN PEDRO (CBS) — Firefighters rescued two workers who were trapped in an underground tank near San Pedro Friday.
Officials responded to 3171 N. Gaffey St. around noon.
According to fire officials, one of the men fell down a 40-foot shaft into the tank. His co-worker then tried to help him, but also fell in.
Urban Search And Rescue teams worked to provide the trapped men with air, Matt Spence of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The men were pulled to safety around 2 p.m. and taken to a local hospital for treatment. Their condition is unknown, Spence said.
