2 Ordered To Stand Trial For Fatal Shooting Of Compton Youth Pastor
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)— A judge found sufficient evidence Thursday to order two people to stand trial for the fatal shooting of a Compton youth minister last June.
Oscar Duncan, then 23, was killed in front of his Venice home on June 4, 2012.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James Dabney ordered Hopeton Parsley, 23, and Nichole Sheran, 18, to proceed to trial in connection with the murder.
A third defendant, Kevin Dwayne Green, 29, had already been ordered to stand trial on charges stemming from Duncan's slaying.
Duncan was standing with his girlfriend when approached by the suspects, according to the DA's office.
Parsley was allegedly with a group of people who drove up to the couple and shouted a gang name at them.
Duncan not only was not a gang member, but he was actively involved in anti-gang interventions.
Green is due back at the Airport Branch Courthouse in Los Angeles for a pretrial hearing next Thursday.
Parsley -- the alleged shooter -- and Sheran are scheduled to return to court for arraignment April 25.
