3 New Suspects Arrested In Bryan Stow Beating
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Three new suspects have been arrested in connection with the brutal beating of San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow.
Giovanni Ramirez, the man originally arrested in connection with the March 31 attack at Dodger Stadium, may soon be exonerated.
CBS 2 has confirmed that Louie Sanchez, 29, and Marvin Norwood, 30, are in custody in connection with the case. Both suspects are being held on $500,000 bail, according to The Los Angeles Times.
A third suspect, Dorene Sanchez, was also arrested on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact, CBS 2 confirmed. She was released Friday morning after posting $50,000 bail, The Times reported.
Sources tell us that detectives now have physical evidence linking the two men to the beating. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and LAPD Chief Charlie Beck will hold a 5 p.m. news conference to release more details regarding the arrests and the Stow beating.
In May, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck maintained Ramirez was responsible for the opening day beating at Dodger Stadium.
Ramirez was arrested on a parole violation, but the case began to crumble after his attorney claimed there was no other evidence or eyewitness testimony.
His defense argued that multiple witnesses, including his own daughter, could prove he was not at Dodger Stadium the night of the attack.
Stow remains hospitalized in San Francisco, where he just said his last name and gave a thumbs up doctors and nurses. His family learned of the latest developments from CBS2.
"We're really just waiting kind of like everybody else," John Stow said. "We know they have a big job to do ahead of them. We're putting all our faith in the LAPD right now."
The two key witnesses who played a big role in the initial investigation were called back to the LAPD. The Fullerton couple told investigators that they saw the beating at Dodger Stadium on opening night.
They say they stood next to Stow and believed they identified the right man, Giovanni Ramirez, after looking at a series of police lineups and photographs.
The say they were shocked that they identified the wrong man.
The district attorney reportedly plans to file charges against the two new suspects Friday.
Ramirez is still being held at a facility in San Diego. His attorneys will hold a 1 p.m. news conference, where we will learn more about their plans to file a lawsuit against the LAPD.
