2 Men Who Were Shot To Be Questioned About Home Invasion Robbery In Northridge
NORTHRIDE (CBSLA.com) — Two men hospitalized with gunshot wounds will have to answer questions Monday about their roles in a home invasion robbery in Northridge, Los Angeles police said.
Officers responded to a home in the 9800 block of Zelzah Avenue, near Lassen Street, just after 8 a.m. Sunday and found two people suffering from gunshot wounds, according to LAPD spokeswoman Officer Norma Eisenman.
One of the victims was struck in the arm, and another in the leg and stomach, Eisenman said. Both were taken to a hospital in unknown condition.
Police were treating the wounded men as suspects, Sgt. R. Diaz said. The men were in custody at the hospital and investigators were waiting to talk to them, he said.
A preliminary investigation revealed that two suspects, men in their 20s, entered the residence and attempted a home invasion robbery, Eisenman said.
"A gun was produced at some point during the robbery by unknown individuals," she said.
It's not known whether anyone else was inside the residence when the home invasion took place, Eisenman said. The incident, she said, may have been gang related.
Two hours after the incident, the public was asked to "avoid" an area of large off-campus apartment buildings, bounded by Zelzah Avenue to the west, Lassen Street to the north, White Oak Avenue to the east, and Superior Street to the south. The advisory was lifted by 2 p.m.
No closures were issued for the Cal State Northridge campus.
