2 Men Charged With Murder In Anaheim Park Shooting

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Two men were charged Friday in the fatal shooting of a man in his 20s at a park in Anaheim.

According to the Orange County District Attorney's Office, Adam Jay Stone, 28, of Anaheim and Ransom Lewis Cook, 24, of Westminster were charged with one felony count each of murder.

Stone faced a sentencing enhancement for personal discharge of a firearm causing death. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 50 years to life in state prison.

Cook was given a sentencing enhancement for being armed with a firearm. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 26 years to life in state prison.

According to the Anaheim Police Department, officers were sent around 4:50 p.m. Wednesday to Twila Reid Park for reports of shots fired.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Stone allegedly left a vehicle driven by Cook with a loaded firearm and shot 29-year-old Alexander McMoore once in the head.

After the shooting occurred, he ran back to the car and drove away from the park with Cook.

Police were able to locate and arrest both men after being contacted by witnesses.

The investigation is continuing.

Both men are being held on $1 million. Their arraignment was continued to Jan. 23 in Santa Ana.
