2 Men Arrested In Thefts Of 69 iPads, Computers From OC School
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Orange County police have arrested two men believed to be responsible for a pair of school burglaries that resulted in the thefts of more than 60 iPads and Apple computers.
Javier Cruz Perez, 38, and 49-year-old Christopher Erik Clark were arrested Tuesday on charges of possession of stolen property and burglary.
According to Santa Ana police, Hazard Elementary School, located at 4218 West Hazard Avenue, was broken into twice. One incident occurred between Nov. 22 and 26, and the other sometime before Dec. 2.
"During the two burglaries, a total of 69 Apple iPads and nine Apple iMac laptop computers were taken," officials said.
On Dec. 3, police received information that led officers to a Santa Ana computer repair shop, where they located 18 of the iPads and all nine of the laptops.
As they continued to follow up on leads, they identified Perez as a suspect and found him in possession of 12 more iPads.
Additional clues led them to conduct a probation search of a room at the Budget Inn, 1108 North Harbor Blvd., that was registered to Clark.
"Detectives located 32 additional iPads taken in the burglaries," authorities said.
